Weil recounts six generations of family history. Her grandfather, Sigmund Schwabacher, immigrated from Germany to New York where he married. He and his wife Rosa settled in the state of Washington, becoming successful owners of a hardware store. They eventually moved to San Francisco. Their daughter Stella Rose Schwabacher married Alfred Bornstein. They are parents of the interviewee.
